                              Mrs. Merle Maxine Spence Willis of Pelham passed away at her residence in Pelham on Wednesday, July 21, 2010.  Born in Mitchell County, GA on June 27, 1932, to the late Carl and Mamie Harvey Spence, she was the wife of Jack Willis of Pelham.  A retired bookkeeper for the Pelham City School System, Mrs. Willis was 78.  She was also a member of  First Baptist Church of Pelham and a past matron of the William T. Flynt Chapter #303 Order of the Eastern Star.

                              The funeral services for Mrs. Willis will be held on Friday, July 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home.  The Rev. Carl Stokes and Rev. Carl Willis will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Ryan Ferros, Elzie Jones, Mike Jones, Jason Willis, Tyler Willis, and Christopher Willis.  Interment will be held in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Grady County, GA.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham.

                              Survivors include her husband, Jack Willis of Pelham, GA; sons, Dr. James T. "Tim" Willis and wife, Marge, of Thomasville, GA, and Rev. Carl W. Willis and wife, Chris of Chattanooga, TN; daughters, Cheryl W. Katz of Atlanta, GA and Brenda W. Ferros and husband, Mike, of Pelham, GA; grandchildren, Jason Willis and wife, Hisa, of Thomasville, GA, Tyler Willis of Thomasville, GA, Casey Willis and Chris Willis of Chattanooga, TN, Ryan Ferros of Pelham, GA, Sarah Katz of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren, Austin Willis and Breanna Willis, both of Thomasville, GA; sisters, Mrs. LaGrande Hampton of Pelham, GA and Mrs. Vassie Means of Haines City, FL;  stepbrothers, Fred Carter and wife, Bobbie, of Albany, GA, and Charles Carter and wife, Mary, of Nashville, TN.
